Robust Rooms

Robust, huge, grandiose...bottom line: sometimes bigger is better. It's been five weeks in this tiny apartment and all I want is to live in a home with ceilings more than a foot taller than I am. For now, all I can do is gawk at these gorgeous and beautiful rooms that look like they belong in a castle.

Let's Talk About Scarves

It's a bit chilly outside! We just got back from playing at Western Oregon University and fall is in full swing here in Seattle. Here are some pics with my mom and dad--I hadn't seen them for a month which seemed way longer than it was.

It's time to break out the scarves and not the sheer summer kind. Protect your neck with these warm and wonderful accessories.

Snuggle Time!

Today was so beautiful! The sun was out and there wasn't a cloud in sight :) The only thing that reminded me it was fall was the fact that our lush green Seattle trees are fading into rustic colors--I think the 45 degree weather was another clue. I so looked forward to coming home and curling up on the couch with a bowl of tomato soup and a cozy blanket. I also could not WAIT to light our holiday scented candle! All that's missing is a blazing fireplace. I've finally come to terms with the fact that it's fall but our tiny apartment needs an upgrade. Here's what my dream fall home would look like:

Twisted

I've mastered the twist! (sort of...) Lindsey showed me how to do it a few days ago in the locker room and I'm SO STOKED that I have finally learned the secret behind it. I feel like I'm totally over exaggerating this, oh well! The trick is to twist both pieces out and away from each other before twisting together. It's been such a mystery for the longest time and I'm proud to say that I've got it down now!

I did this today when I was in a hurry to get to the gym for our match and it turned out a little funky...but I still like it! It looks like a braid at first, but don't be fooled! It is indeed a (over-hyped) twist.

Dressed Up

Hello and Happy Wednesday! For some reason the importance of good sleep has been more important than ever so far this quarter. I was ready for (and took) a nap at 11:00 in the morning. Ahh, life of a college student.

Recently I've been overly aware of dresses fit for a high school homecoming because my (hot/awesome/wonderful) sister is going in a few weeks. I feel like I've found a lot of adorable dresses that may or may not work for a school dance or I can't find where they're from. Oh well, here are some of my favorites that go well with sun, Starbucks and sandals--or boots, I just needed a word that started with 's' :)

This is also my LAST posting with clothes that can't be worn outside of summer in Seattle! It's time to accept the clouds and start throwing on some scarves.

Coming to Terms

Summer died. It's over. Gone. Won't be back for 8 months. Bye. Yes, I realize that it's the 10th and it's been fall for almost 3 weeks AND Seattle's summer has been over since August...but I think that everyone can agree with me when I say it's always hard to let go of the sun and welcome in the dark and gloomy months to come. One way to ring in the new season is with autumn's favorite gourde: The Pumpkin. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pies, pumpkin smoothies at Jamba. While the weather outside is nasty, the oven inside is blazing and full of treats fit for fall, Halloween through Christmas.

The pumpkin roll has been a tradition in the Oslie household for about 5 years and I don't plan on letting this fade out. Ever. Try it and you'll see what I mean! Pumpkin + cream cheese + love=om nom nom.

For my favorite celiac, here's a gluten free version :)

This recipe for pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls might be a little complex for my tiny kitchen and limited time/patience, but definitely something to shoot for once I go home in a few weeks!

I know it sounds weird, but the Pumpkin Smash Smoothie at Jamba Juice might be the best drink I've ever had there. I wish they offered this more because it is BOMB. This recipe is pretty similar, so if I ever get a craving in June I can just whip one up myself!

Do you like cake? Do you also like cups? What about pumpkin? (If you've gotten this far down, then you like pumpkin) Judge these by their looks, because they all look de-LISH.

P.S...Watch out for some intense Christmas blogs to come. It's October 10th and the lights are about to go up and the Christmas-scented candle has already been lit :)

Weird Walls

Meet Cornelius Thoroughgood: The new addition to our wall.
My roommate got this at Urban Outfitters and I just now put this up on our empty boring wall right above our TV. I just can't express the joy that I get every time I look at this. Cornelius is inspiring the following pictures because it's about time to give him some neighbors. We're still in the process of decorating so here are some weird photo collections as inspiration.
